Both teams are in a bad mood this season. Before the game, Jeonbuk ranked 9th and Gangwon ranked 11th. Jeonbuk has already suffered 5 defeats and has not been able to show the aspect of winning the championship over the past few seasons. In the last 8 rounds, they won the Jeju expedition, but lost to Daejeon Hana Citizen and couldn’t save the flow.

After the opening, Gangwon could not tell the fans the news of the victory. Up to the 8th round, they recorded 4 draws and 4 losses, and fell to the bottom. Then, at the end of the last round game, Lee Woong-hee’s winning goal defeated FC Seoul, led by coach Ahn Ik-soo, and won their first win of the season in 9 games. Accordingly, an all-out war was announced to continue the flow of this game.

At the beginning of the game, Jeonbuk caught the flow. In Jeonbuk, Song Min-gyu and Hapa Silva aimed for space behind the opponent, and Amano coordinated the attack in the second line. Then, bad news occurred in Jeonbuk. In the 18th minute of the first half, Song Min-gyu complained of pain after being knocked down by an opponent’s tackle during a counterattack. After talking with the medical staff, he was put back into the field with a signal that he was okay, but he sat down again and was replaced by Gustavo in the 22nd minute of the first half.

Jeonbuk seized the opportunity. In the 23rd minute of the first half, Gustavo dropped a cross from the right side with his head, and Hafa Silva connected it with a right-footed shot, but it hit the post. Then, in the 34th minute of the first half, Hong Jeong-ho, who was in a distant position, attempted a surprise mid-range shot, but goalkeeper Lee Kwang-yeon made a save. In the corner kick situation, Amano’s cross was headed by Gustavo, but the goalkeeper saved and Kim Geon-woong rushed the ball that flowed, but failed to score.

They tried to attack Gangwon-do, which had been sinking. Gangwon was mostly defensive. Right striker Kim Dae-woo came down to the midfield and blocked Jeonbuk’s attack in a 5-3-2 formation. Next, Yang Hyun-jun and Park Sang-hyuk aimed for a counterattack. In the 43rd minute of the first half, Kim Dae-woo and Yoo In-soo attempted a cross attack on the right side, but it was not threatening.

At the start of the second half, both teams took out replacement cards. Gangwon put in Gallego and Kim Dae-won to strengthen the flank attack, and Jeonbuk put in Jung Woo-jae to bring a change to the left defense.

At the beginning of the second half, a tight flow continued between the two teams. Gangwon aimed for the goal through quick development with Gallego, Yang Hyeon-jun, and Kim Dae-won, while Jeonbuk dug into the side and attacked the opponent with a cross for Gustavo.

Gangwon seized a decisive chance. In the 19th minute of the second half, Kim Dae-won led a counterattack. After breaking through, he attempted a shot from inside the box, but was unable to break through goalkeeper Kim Jeong-hoon. Jeonbuk also threatened the goal. In the 23rd minute of the second half, after going through Gustavo and Hafa Silva, Amano continued shooting with his left foot, but Hafa Silva’s foul was declared earlier.

When no goals were scored, both teams took out replacement cards once again. Jeonbuk put Baek Seung-ho and Andre Lewis (25 minutes in the second half), and Gangwon put Kim Jin-ho (31 minutes in the second half), Kim Woo-seok and Alibaev (40 minutes in the second half).

At the end of the game, Jeonbuk knocked. In the corner kick situation, the players tangled and continued shooting, but could not open the goal for Gangwon. In the corner kick that followed in extra time, Hong Jeong-ho turned Baek Seung-ho’s cross to the head, but goalkeeper Lee Kwang-yeon caught it.

Afterwards, at the end of the game, Gangwon put a wedge in the game. In the counterattack situation in the second half of extra time, Yang Hyun-jun overcame the competition with the defense and took a 1-on-1 chance with the goalkeeper. Then, he calmly scored the winning goal with a shot that passed the goalkeeper’s key.

After Gangwon’s goal, Jeonbuk left regret. Jeonbuk players strongly protested to the referee over a physical fight during the scoring process, and Hong Jeong-ho and Kim Moon-hwan were sent off due to accumulated warnings.
