He never lost a physical battle, and his defensive abilities, including tackles and interceptions, were outstanding. In addition, his speed, build-up ability, and forward movement made him the epitome of a modern center back. Thanks to Kim, Napoli surged ahead from the start of the season and won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.

Awards galore During the season, he won the Serie A Secretariat Player of the Month award in September and the Italian Football Players’ Association Player of the Month award in October. At the end of the season, he was named to the Serie A Team of the Year. Kim was part of a defense that included Theo Hernandez (AC Milan), Gleison Bremer (Juventus), and Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli). Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus) was selected in goal, while Adrien Rabiot (Juventus), Nicolo Barella (Inter Milan), and Sandro Tonali (AC Milan) formed the midfield. Haphaël Leroy (AC Milan), Victor Osimhen (Napoli), and Hvitsa Kvarachelia (Napoli) are in the attack.

He was also honored as Serie A’s best defender. The Best Defender award is part of the Serie A awards and is selected by the secretariat. Luciano Spalletti was named Best Coach, Kim Min-jae was named Best Defender, Victor Osimen was named Best Striker, and Hvitsa Kvarachelia was named MVP.
