The Astros announced today that they have placed Altuve on the 10-day disabled list (IL).

Altuve missed his second straight game after feeling soreness in his left side during pregame batting practice on April 4.

Altuve, who represented Venezuela at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in March, was sidelined for nearly two months after fracturing his right thumb on a pitch in the semifinals against the United States.

When Altuve made his first appearance on May 20, more than 50 days after the season opener, he was batting .264 with six home runs, 18 RBIs, and an OPS of .850 in 32 games this season.

With Altuve on the IL, Houston recalled David Hensley from Triple-A to replace him.
