In first-half stoppage time, Gabriel equalized with an exquisite turn in front of goal, only to see Gallego pull one back shortly after.
In the second half, both teams fought hard to open up the opponent’s goal, despite the heavy rainfall at Jeonju World Cup Stadium making it difficult for the ball to roll properly.
Jeonbuk failed to find the equalizer as Moon Sun-min, who came on as a second-half substitute, saw his left-footed mid-range shot narrowly miss the target, and instead received a wedge goal from Gangwon’s Kim Dae-won in the 30th minute of the second half.
The away team won 3-1. With the three points, Gangwon leapfrogged Suwon Samseong and moved off the bottom of the league.
Meanwhile, fifth-place Jeonbuk went winless for the fifth straight game.
Pohang defeated Suwon FC at home.
Pohang frontline striker Zeca scored two goals in the first half alone to lead his team to victory.
The league’s second-place Pohang extended its winning streak to five wins and four draws in its last nine games and moved to within six points of leader Ulsan.
Ulsan is winless in its last three matches, having drawn 1-1 at home against eighth-placed Daejeon.
